All Talk 21 - Drugs Tested On Poor Children

HUTCHBACK (sarcasm)

No, there's no point in doing that – re-claiming water from kids with dysentery. There's no mileage in that as a business.
(beat)
Although using children to breed, er, biological agents isn't a bad idea.

DR. NOSTRUM

How do they do that?

HUTCHBACK

Well, you know, you'd give them someth...

DR. NOSTRUM

Infect 'em.

HUTCHBACK

...infect them with something and then you'd harvest...

DR. NOSTRUM

Well why infect children? There's a lot more other things around than children.

HUTCHBACK

Well, no, maybe it's something to do with genes.

DR. NOSTRUM

There's a lot more rats than children.

HUTCHBACK

No, you might need human genes.

DR. NOSTRUM

I imagine they do that at some point, you know, children are probably part of the process that they, er, test stuff on things. You know, all the stuff before it gets to market at some point has to be tested on children...

HUTCHBACK (agreeing)

Mm, mm...

DR. NOSTRUM

...or do you think they don't test it on children? They just make it up...

HUTCHBACK

Well...

DR. NOSTRUM

...and say, you test it on a rabbit.. you test it on 10 rabbits, that's equivalent to half a child? I don't know how it works. At some point you've got to give this stuff to a child don't you, and see what happens to it?

HUTCHBACK

Mm.

DR. NOSTRUM

So it's probably very poor families children.

HUTCHBACK

Mmm – sorry?

DR. NOSTRUM

Maybe.

HUTCHBACK

Yes, maybe.
